It really a good opportunity for students because they will get the job w/o giving one so many bank exams.
As in Next 5 Years Government have to recruit almost 7.5 lakh Peoples, so this also help the government by taking only one bank exam not so many. They can easily Separate the Participants on the merit basis and decide the respective post.I think It is wrong that banks are doing separate recruitment

Now to implement this method of common bank exam - the Indian Bank Association has also written to bank to make a common test and try to made some common policies. If this come in action - its really great - they said to conduct it twice a year . Their will be two exam for clerks and two for officer category.
This Method will be beneficiary for the government as well as students as they not need to give - each bank exam separately you just have to give a common exam and on its basis it will be done easily.So Get ready for bank jobs whether it is bank po or clerk you will get a huge number of opportunities in next 5 years and the number is around seven lakh.
